The Ashland County Solid Waste Management District (District) was established in 1990 in response to new Ohio law developed under House Bill 592. The new law required every County in Ohio to be in a solid waste district and to develop a plan to meet a recycling goal of 25% and/or 80% recycling infrastructure for their district. The District is required by Section 3734.54 of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) to periodically update its solid waste management plan (Plan Update). This current Plan Update covers a fifteen year planning period beginning in 2018 and ending in 2032. The current Plan Update includes a description of District programs and projections for solid waste generation, recycling and disposal for fifteen years. The current Plan Update identifies the District’s strategies for managing the District’s facilities and programs and provides an assessment on achieving statewide recycling and waste reduction goals. The current Plan Update follows Ohio EPA’s format Version 4.0 and is provided on this page. The District is in the process of updating the current solid waste plan.
