NOTICE OF CDBG PUBLIC HEARING #1
Ashland County intends to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities Program, a federally funded program administered by the State of Ohio. The County is eligible to receive program year 2023 CDBG formula funding for an anticipated amount of approximately $150,000.00, providing the County meets the applicable program requirements. The County can also apply for up to $750,000 in Neighborhood Revitalization funding, up to $500,000 in Downtown Revitalization Funding, and up to $500,000 in Residential Public Infrastructure Funding. Projects awarded funding will be undertaken no sooner than September 2025.
The first of two public hearings will be held at 9:30 a.m. on February 27, 2025, at the County Commissioners Office in the Ashland County Office Building, located at 110 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio. This hearing will give citizens pertinent information about the CDBG program, including an explanation of eligible activities, program details, and filing requirements.
The CDBG Program can fund a broad range of activities, including economic development projects; water supply, drainage, and sanitary sewer improvements; park acquisitions and improvements; demolition of unsafe structures; housing assistance programs; and neighborhood facilities and planning. The activities must be designed to primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight, or meet an urgent need of the community.
Citizens and officials from villages and townships are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting on February 27, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. to provide their input on the County’s proposed CDBG Program.
By Order of the Ashland County Commissioners
